I am trying to trace an old colleague from my RAF days, 1947-9, I knew as Bill Hall. That was not his correct christian name - I think it may have been Gerard - he and his twin brother (?) went to Hymers, he was called for national service into the RAF in 1947, he would then be 18, born say 1929. Demobilised 1949. His father was I believe a director of a Hull Tannery called Hodgsons and may have also been at Hymers. Last known residing in Leicester around 1952/4 previously in Leeds. Following the huge success of our pilot Leadership Award scheme in 2009 Mr David Elstone and Dr John Gosnold are intending to repeat the exercise again in October (Half Term) co-operating this time with Andrew Marvell School and Winifred Holtby School. We need to raise £9,000 rapidly to fund the scheme and commit ourselves to this October. I have been offered a place on the one year circus course at Circomedia, Bristol. This is an intensive course working up to ten hours a day five days a week, specialising in two chosen areas, in my case aerial (trapeze etc) and acrobalance. My aim is to use my circus skills to engage with the community, creating encouraging, entertaining and challenging performances that utilise storytelling to reflect current issues such as equality and the environment. Immediately after completing the course I hope to deliver workshops for young people in Hull and the East Riding using circus skills to develop creativity as well as being a positive source of exercise and team building.

With the support of friends and family to match my savings i have paid the course deposit of £2000 (raising £1000 in 4 weeks!). I am now looking for help to pay the remaining fees of £4400, and in exchange I will include all sponsors in my journey, whether that is by sending monthly photo/diary updates or giving them tickets to my final show. There are also business opportunities like advertising on the blog, wearing branded training gear etc or performing at sponsor's events/venues for free or at cost price on completion of the course.
