Old Hymerian Coroner lectures at Hymers - September 2013
On 5th September Old Hymerian John Pollard came to speak at Hymers as part of the school's Sixth Form Lecture programme.
John, who left Hymers in 1970, spoke about his life at Hymers and his career as a Coroner.
John is currently the Coronor for Metropolitan Boroughs of Stockport, Tameside and Trafford and presided over the Harold Shipman case.

Forensic Scientist visits school to talk to Sixth Formers - December 2012
Old Hymerian Professor Dave Barclay (left Hymers in 1962) who is an internationally renowned Forensic Scientist came to talk to the sixth form yesterday as part of the 6th Form Lecture Programme.
He told tales about his school days at Hymers and also gave a very interactive presentation about the principles of forensic science, showing examples of real cases he has worked on.
It was a very interesting lecture and gave the students real insight into crime investigation.
Several students joined Professor Barclay for lunch afterwards, in the Headmaster’s study.

Old Hymerian visits school to talk in assembly - October 2012

On September 19th, Alex Wragge-Morley, who left Hymers in 2003, took assembly in the Senior School.
He spoke about the benefits of studying for a history degree and then went on to talk to the pupils about various aspects of his work as a historian.
