It is with great sadness that we advise that Richard Ashton died on Monday 18 January following a brave fight with cancer.
He was an outstanding servant to HymersCollege, having been a pupil, stalwart of The Old Hymerians Association and a Governor for over thirty years. He will be greatly missed.
All our thoughts and prayers are with Anne and his sons who were with him in his last days.
Richard was a good friend to me throughout my 32 years on the Hymers staff. He was always supportive, and I don't think that he missed a single play that I directed over all those years. He was a man truly passionate about all things Hymers, and he will indeed be missed.
