On Monday 14th March, eight Hymers College sixth form students were taken to London to see some Old Hymerians at work. The first port of call was to the City of London where the students got to hear about city trading, courtesy of Jennifer Hall (who left Hymers in 1998) and now works at Peel Hunt LLP, a full service broking house. The Managing Director, Steven Fine, took time out of his busy day to talk to the students, and they were then given a tour of the trading floor.
The next stop was the Old Bailey, where His Honour Judge Paul Worsley QC (who left Hymers in 1965), welcomed the party in his chambers, and gave a brief summary of the case he was presiding over. The students were then taken down to the courtroom to see the case being presented.
All the students (who are pursuing a career in law or finance) found the day very interesting and worthwhile. The visit was part of the Alumni Relations Programme.
Any Old Hymerian who is interested in allowing current students to visit their place of work, please get in touch.
